Lucca Comics 2026: where to have dinner in the old town, steps from San Michele

During Lucca Comics & Games 2026, from 28 October to 1 November, Tomkat is open every day: Wednesday 28, Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November from 11:45 am to 11:00 pm, so for lunch too. We are at Via Calderia 12, inside the walls, about 70 meters from Piazza San Michele and 300 from Piazza Napoleone. On those days it is worth booking: you can book online, for dinner until 9:30 pm, from the Book page.

A proper sit-down dinner, in the middle of the festival

During the Comics, the center of Lucca changes pace: packed squares, queues, costumes, a city that stays up late. After a day on your feet, what you need is simple: a table, the right glass and something good to eat, without crossing half the town.

Tomkat is a wine bar with a kitchen. The wine list has almost 200 labels from Italy and France and received Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence in 2025 and 2026; the cooking is simple, built around the glass.

What to eat

The menu has two parts. From the Kitchen: dishes such as fresh pasta lasagna with a 24-hour ragù, Tuscan-style meatballs in tomato sauce, or salt cod in tomato sauce with chickpea purée, from 14 to 26 euros. From the Pantry: artisanal cold cuts from Lucca and Tuscany, aged pecorino, Gillardeau oysters, Jura Comté. If you would rather not choose, there is a tasting menu to share, 40 euros per person for the whole table, with a pairing of 3, 5 or 7 wines. The full menu is on the Menu page.

Before dinner, a wine tasting at 6 pm

If your day at the festival ends early, you can start at 6:00 pm with a tasting. Tomkat’s Choice starts at 20 euros and can be booked for one person; the other flights range from Tuscan reds to Champagne. They are booked and paid online on the Tastings page.
